Sandown is our largest property and is an immaculate and spacious upside down home with 4 ground floor bedrooms sleeping 7, 5 bathrooms and a large comfortable living space with kitchen and utility room on the 1st floor. It has a patio area with table, chairs & BBQ and parking for 4 cars.
Sandown is a 4 guestroom and 5 bathroom property offering all the comforts of home in the beautiful setting of Bowness-on-Windermere.
The huge comfortable lounge has lots of seating for all the guests in your party with wall mounted Smart TV so you can steam all the usual subscription services. There are board games, cards, books, toys and lots of useful leaflets offering information about all the wonderful things to do and places to visit within the surrounding area.
Off the Lounge is a beautiful dining room which comfortably seats a large family group plus a highchair for the little ones.
The house sleeps 7 people plus 1 infant (by request) in 4 ground floor bedrooms comprising of 3 x double guestrooms with en-suite shower rooms and a lovely single guestroom, also with an en-suite shower room. All the bedrooms have their own TV. There is a travel cot available, you will just need to bring your own bedding.
The well equipped kitchen with utility/cloak/wash room has everything you will need to cook enjoyable family meals, including a double oven, hob, microwave, large fridge/freezer and separate fridge, bread maker, mixer, lots of pots and pans and of course a washing machine and dishwasher.
There is ample parking for 4 cars and a separate patio area with table, chairs and a BBQ.

Windermere is the ideal base for The Lake District as it has excellent restaurants, specialist & boutique shops, tea shops, wine bars & old traditional English pubs. From The Pier you can enjoy a trip around Lake Windermere hopping on and off at the traditional villages or ride the Lakeside steam train. There are lots for the kids to do like fun farms, Go Ape, a zoo, the aquarium etc. Alternatively from our front door you are already only minutes away from breath-taking views and many beautiful scenic walks, hikes and bike rides. But if you fancy a change from all that you can go climbing, sailing, golfing, fishing, horse riding, off roading, clay pigeon shooting, quad biking or visit the many historic houses, safari parks, award winning gardens, the list goes on with something for all.

Having stayed at Sandown last week I would highly recommend the cottage to anyone considering staying in Bowness. The cottage is immaculate all the way through, tastefully decorated throughout. Very well equipped with everything you need, the off street parking for 3 cars is a huge bonus and so perfectly situated for both the lake and local village and surrounding areas. We have had the pleasure of staying at both cottages and will definitely be booking to stay again. Also a very big thank you to Georgeene for being very accomodating and a lovely host. Don't hesitate in booking either Kempton or Sandown as you won't be disappointed.

We have just returned from a superb holiday staying at Sandown and it brought back many happy memories of when I stayed here on numerous occasions when it was a b and b and belonged to the owner”s lovely late parents. The property is spacious, so ideally positioned that my parents who do have slight mobility issues could quite easily walk down to the lake and then they would get the bus back which stops directly outside the house. There were six of us and our dog and we found the house was ideal for us as a family. The owner is so lovely and we were made to feel very welcome with a lovely welcome gift and contact that if there was anything wrong we could contact her. Sandown and Kempton next door really are the perfect holiday cottages with parking directly outside and so handy for both bowness and Windermere. We loved the “upside down” accommodation as it was very warm but with the bedrooms being downstairs it kept them cool making it so ideal to sleep in. The living accommodation is spacious and serves well. We will most definitely be back to stay here. Thank you for a truly immense holiday.

"Sandown was the perfect holiday home for our 2 families."
The house was exactly as described and the photos did not embellish it at all. The bedrooms were not huge but were big enough and with each room having it's own bathroom, it was ideal. The amount and quality of the public/shared space upstairs was more than enough for the 7 of us. The best part of the stay was the communication from Georgie which made us feel very confident that we had chosen the right place. Even though there were no problems, we were made to feel that if there was, she would have sorted it out for us. We would definitely stay here again.

We had a fabulous holiday in Sandown. There were 4 adults and 2 children and we all felt we had plenty of space. The house is well resourced and very comfortable. The house is in an excellent location: you can be in the heart of Bowness in minutes and Windermere is only 20mins walk away. There is a bus stop just outside which is great for accessing the nearby towns in an open top bus! Georgie is a very thoughtful host and communication with her was excellent.

Just returned from 4 fantastic nights at Sandown, 5 adults and a 2 year old. I'd have to write an essay to list all that was good about the accommodation and owner Georgie!
The house was very comfortable, immaculate, with lots of lovely extra touches and very well equipped. Perfect location. fantastic host with excellent communication between us, nothing was too much trouble and we were made to feel so welcome from booking through to (reluctantly) leaving this morning ..... I could go on and on and on, but I think you get the picture!
Would highly recommend and will most definitely be returning ourselves :)

We stayed at Sandown the 1st week in July. Georgie could not have been more helpful. The house location is perfect for Windermere & Bowness. The house is ell equipped and it is furnished well too. It was a great house for my family to get together. We will be back.

Just back from a lovely holiday at Sandown so glad I found this holiday home for our family . The house is beautifully furnished and the kitchen so well equipped ,every room so clean and fresh . The location couldn’t have been better just a short stroll to restaurant s and shops . Would definitely recommend these holiday cottages ,and would definitely book again in the future .

We had a lovely week at Sandown and couldn’t have been better placed to enjoy the popular areas of the Lake District. Georgeene couldn’t have been more helpful and provided me with all the information and recommendations that was needed for our stay. Upon arrival, we were surprised to see all the basics to keep us going until the shopping arrived, along with an extra little something which was a lovely touch! The house had everything we needed, clean and well equipped with all we needed. A perfect little getaway!

It's hard to put into words the inimitable qualities that make a holiday so memorable, but you'll certainly find it here. It's the perfect position for a lakes themed getaway, a stones throw from some lovely family walks, a short drive for some of Wainwright's epics, and a quick stroll into Bowness or Windermere for food and drinks with friends.
We've loved every stay at Georgie and Mark's Cottage and wouldn't hesitate in recommending them to anyone.

Property very roomy for us all, nice to leave car and walk into Bowness. We went to cinema which was minutes away and the weather was not great but plenty of welcoming pubs to shelter in!

The family had a great week in Bowness for the half term break the weather was just great so we got out on for some nice walks. Property was perfect for our needs with everything provided, great service from the owners who responded quickly to all our questions and queries. We will be looking to return in the future.

We had a wonderful week in Sandown. The house was equipped with everything we needed. All of the living accommodation was located on the ground floor with good size lounge, dining area and kitchen. All of the ground floor bedrooms are en suite and there's also a toilet on the upper floor. The two rear double bedrooms were excellent. The outside area is quite small and limited to a patio area but we found it adequate for us. The location of the house is about a 10 to 15 minute walk from the lake and retail areas. All in all we loved the week we had there and wished we'd booked for two. The communication we had from the owner/manager was excellent.

Excellent holiday base. House exceptionally clean & tidy. Excellent accommodation for our three generation stay (& dog). More than adequate parking for our 3 cars. House convenient for all the amenities of Bowness on Windermere and public / ferry transport. Owners very helpful and welcoming.

Sandown was very clean, well kitted out and felt welcoming. It is well located for strolling into town or driving off to walk or "sight see" with a lot of choice nearby. It was a perfect location for a long weekend. The owners provided friendly advice and allowed us to park early when we arrived and leave our cars after we had checked out while we had a last walk into Bowness. Obviously this would depend on other occupancy, but was much appreciated in our case. We hope to come again!

"Comfortable and convenient home from home". This was our second stay at Sandown over the Christmas week. It was just as lovely as we had remembered and we found the addition of an upstairs utility area and toilet very useful. The property is well equipped and comfortable and is perfectly situated for a stroll into Bowness and for local walks with breathtaking views over Windermere. The addition of a Christmas Tree and a Christmas card and treats from the owners were a lovely touch and gave the property a really festive feel when we arrived. We managed to cook a Christmas dinner for 7 in the kitchen with no problems. Thanks for another fantastic week.

"New year holiday". Very clean and well equipped property. All bedrooms are en-suite with very comfortable beds. It is well situated for all amenities, having lovely olde worlde pubs, restaurants and lots of shops to visit. We highly recommend staying at Sandown and would love to visit again.

Lovely property, well situated, large living room, very warm and comfortable. Enjoyed staying here very much. Key safe outside meant no worry about losing key. House well equipped and warm and cosy as it was a bit cold when we were there. Could do with some kind of boot room but overall excellent house.

Sandown is perfectly located within 5 minutes of Bowness Town Centre. It is well furnished to a high standard with 4 en-suite bedrooms, on the ground floor, and a kitchen, dining room Lounge and toilet on the first floor. The kitchen is small but modern and perfectly adequate, and is well equipped with appliances, cutlery and crockery. The House is set out with some thought and there is a natural flow across the living accommodation. The house was immaculate on arrival, and included a small welcome pack in the kitchen, which enabled us to have a drink etc before venturing out. The house also had a selection of family games, CD's and DVd's for guests to use. Do not be put off by the "stark" exterior and Entrance Hall, these belie the quality and cleanliness of the living accommodation in this house. We found it ideal for our 3 generation family (2 grandparents, 2 parents, 2 grandchildren, 2 dogs, and 2 cars!) I give this a very high recommendation.

"Bliss" The overall ambience and comfort of "Kempton" negated the generally poor weather. It has an excellent location within walking distance of the top end of the Bowness shopping/eating areas, while a bus stop [for Windermere] at the entrance and another [for Bowness] across the road render a car unnecessary for local touring/shopping. The facilities are more than adequate for a modicum of cooking to maintain body and soul if that is your wont. All in all a pleasant place to stay.

"Couldn't Have Been Better". The property was as shown, the owner very friendly and helpful (especially the welcome gift of wine & milk!!). We were four friends relaxing after a River Boat tour in France and the contrast between the two countries was delightful. The bus stop right at the front door provided our gateway to exploring the area and Beresford Restaurant right across the street was excellent food at most reasonable prices.
